I just found out that I’ll be leaving my FR-S in the hands of a new shop tomorrow, so I figured I’d have a little fun and make a valet mode...

Basically what the above means is a 3000rpm rev limit, 85kph top speed, and WOT corresponds to only 30% throttle input. So basically it’ll be about as fast and responsive as a poorly tuned Geo Metro.

True! Unless they need to test the efficacy of the glue in real world conditions, like throttle pegged around a long sweeper at 80+mph... Yeah. That’s totally a legit thing.

I don’t understand anything you’re doing.

You’re dropping your car off at a shop and breaking it on purpose. To show the guy who drives your slow car trying to fix it who’s boss?

They’ll be at it all day, wondering why your car sucks. WTF are you aiming for?

Plot twist: all FR-Ss were programmed from the factory to only allow 1/3 throttle and 85 commiemetres/hour top speed. And the torque dip was where someone typo’d in the map.

Yep windshield replacement, shouldn’t need to do anything other than moving it around a shop and they are totally unqualified to diagnose engine maladies

A lot of cars do. My Z06 had a valet key that did just that.

But I was more referring to the mobile glass guy on the track. THAT should be a thing.

Should be! It’s been almost a year since I’ve driven at PIR. Started spending all my time at ORP instead.

Oh sorry, hard to follow comments on mobile!

Besides the riding shotgun bit, I think there’s actually a decent sized market for trackside glass repair. Most of the folks I know that actually get cracks repaired quickly are doing it to pass an HPDE tech inspection (and most of their cracks came from rocks kicked up at the track too)
